Pierre Alechinsky's Biography
Pierre Alechinsky (born 1927) is a Belgian post-war painter and printmaker. He is best known for his membership in the CoBrA group, a European avant-garde movement, and his later association with the art movement Tachisme. He has had numerous solo exhibitions throughout Europe and the United States, including the Tate Gallery in London, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. His work is characterized by a spontaneous, intuitive approach to painting, often incorporating found objects and images from nature. He is noted for his use of intense colors and vibrant brushwork.
