Mwangi Hutter's Biography
Mwangi Hutter is a Kenyan-born artist who works in a variety of media including video, performance, and installation. Born in 1975 in Nairobi, Hutter studied literature and philosophy at the University of Nairobi before completing a Master’s degree in media arts from the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne, Germany. Hutter’s work explores themes of identity, history, and memory, often in connection with his Kenyan roots. He has had solo exhibitions at venues including the Musée du Quai Branly (Paris, France) and the Centre for Art and Media (Karlsruhe, Germany). He has also participated in international group exhibitions, such as the 9th Shanghai Biennale (2012).
