Miyako Ishiuchi's Biography
Miyako Ishiuchi is a Japanese photographer and artist born in 1947. She is a contemporary artist, and is most known for her photography. Her works often focus on her personal experiences, such as her youth and her mother's death. Her works have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Japan and abroad, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris. In 2019, she was the first Japanese woman to receive the Hasselblad Award, an international photography prize.
