Michael Rakowitz's Biography
Michael Rakowitz is an American artist, born in 1973, who works primarily in installation art and public intervention. He is known for his works exploring the effects of war, imperialism and colonialism on the Middle East. His works often focus on the lost stories of history and the rediscovery of cultural artifacts. He has exhibited extensively around the world, including at the Stedelijk Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven, Netherlands, where he recently presented the exhibition Delinking and Relinking in 2021. He is also an Associate Professor of Art Theory and Practice at Northwestern University.
