Melanie Manchot's Biography

Melanie Manchot is a German contemporary artist, who was born in 1966. She primarily works in the medium of photography, creating work that is often focused on themes of identity, time and memory. Manchot has exhibited her works internationally in galleries and museums, including the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago and the Tate Modern in London. She has also been involved in several public art projects, such as her 2014 installation, “The Long Goodbye”, which was created for the European Capital of Culture in Umeå, Sweden. Manchot is an associate professor at the University of the Arts in Berlin, and is a member of the International Association of Photography and Theory.
