Matt Mullican's Biography
Matt Mullican is a contemporary American artist who works in a variety of media including drawings, performance, video, and installation. Born in 1951 in Santa Monica, California, Mullican began his career in the 1970s as an early proponent of post-conceptualism. His work is primarily concerned with exploring systems and the relationship between language and meaning. He has had numerous solo exhibitions internationally, including at the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. He currently lives and works in New York City.
