Marilyn Minter's Biography
Marilyn Minter is an American contemporary artist who works primarily in painting, photography, and time-based media. Her works often explore themes of femininity, sexuality, and beauty. She was born in 1948 in Shreveport, Louisiana and is currently based in New York City. Minter has had numerous solo exhibitions across the United States and internationally, including shows at the Van der Grinten Galerie in Cologne, Germany and the Asheville Art Museum in Asheville, NC. She has received numerous awards and honors, including the Anonymous Was A Woman Award, the American Academy of Arts and Letters Award in Art, and the International Center of Photography Infinity Award. Her works are included in many public and private collections, such as The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Museum of Modern Art.
