María Ruido's Biography

María Ruido (born 1967) is a Spanish contemporary artist who works in time-based media. She is best known for her interactive installations that explore the relationship between time, space, and memory. She has exhibited her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout Europe. Ruido has a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona and has completed residencies at the Fabra i Coats Art Factory, the Can Marlès Centre d’Art, and the Hangar Artistic Research Centre. Her works explore the idea of time and its effects on our perception of reality. Through her installations, she creates immersive experiences that invite the audience to explore their own relationship to time and space. Her works have been featured in several international exhibitions, such as the 2017 Pabellón de España at the 57th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, the 2018 H2O project at the Centre d'Art Contemporain Genève, and the 2019 Un Altre Fi. La Resta exhibition at the El Born Centre de Cultura i Memòria in Barcelona. Ruido is currently based in Barcelona.
