Lynn Hershman Leeson's Biography

Lynn Hershman Leeson is an American multimedia artist, filmmaker, and professor. She is well-known for her pioneering works in the fields of virtual art, interactive installations and digital media. Born in 1941 in Cleveland, Ohio, she moved to California at the age of 17 and attended the University of California, Berkeley, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in 1964. She went on to receive her Master of Arts from San Francisco State University in 1966. Leeson's work has been widely exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Barbican Centre in London, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C. She has also been featured in numerous international art festivals, including the Berlin Film Festival, the Venice Biennale, and the New York Film Festival.
