Luigi Ontani's Biography
Luigi Ontani is an Italian artist born in 1943. He is a painter and sculptor who has been active since the 1960s and is associated with the Post-War art movement Arte Povera. Ontani's works often take the form of installations that combine elements from different styles, such as Pop Art and Surrealism. His works often contain references to culture and mythology, as well as to his own personal history. He is also known for his use of unorthodox materials, often combining them with traditional media such as painting and sculpture. His work has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, including the Tate Modern in London, the Guggenheim Museum in New York and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. He is currently preparing an exhibition for the Jeu de Paume in Paris titled Reversing the Eye: Arte Povera and Beyond 1960-75: Photography, Film, Video.
