Louise Lawler's Biography

Louise Lawler is an American contemporary artist best known for her works in Appropriation Art. She was born in 1947 and is based in New York City. Her works are often related to the idea of institutional critique, which is an art movement that examines the cultural and ideological norms of museums and galleries. She often uses photography and installation art to explore these themes. She has had numerous exhibitions in galleries and museums across the world, such as the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (Madrid, Spain) and the Collegium (Arévalo, Spain).
