Leslie Hewitt's Biography
Leslie Hewitt is an American artist best known for her photographs, sculptures, and installations. She was born in 1977 in the United States and is considered to be an Ultra-Contemporary artist. Hewitt's work explores the idea of history and memory, often through the lens of her own personal experience. She has had many solo exhibitions, including A Movement in Every Direction: Legacies of the Great Migration at The Baltimore Museum of Art in 2022. Her work is held in numerous public collections, including The Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and The Whitney Museum of American Art. Hewitt received her MFA in Photography and Related Media from the School of Visual Arts in New York in 2001. She currently lives and works in New York.
