Leiko Ikemura's Biography
Leiko Ikemura is a Japanese artist best known for her painting, sculpture, drawing, and photography. She was born in 1951 in Hiroshima, Japan and is an important figure in the neo-expressionism and Junge Wilde movements. Her works often explore themes of identity, femininity, and nature. Ikemura has exhibited extensively in galleries and museums around the world, including in Tokyo, New York, London, and Basel. She has received numerous awards, including the Praemium Imperiale for Painting from the Japan Art Association in 2018.
