Kapwani Kiwanga's Biography
Kapwani Kiwanga is a Canadian artist and performer born in 1978. She works in a variety of media, including video, performance, photography, sculpture and installation. Her work explores the cultural, social and political implications of historical events, personal narratives and scientific knowledge. Her work has been featured in exhibitions and biennials around the world, including at the Centre Pompidou-Metz, the Musee d´Art Moderne et d`Art Contemporain Nice, and the Nice Biennial of Arts. Kiwanga is interested in how the power of storytelling can shape our understanding of the world. Through her work, she seeks to question our preconceptions and offer alternate perspectives on the past and present.
