Judy Watson's Biography
Judy Watson is an Indigenous Australian artist and printmaker. She was born in 1959 in North Queensland, Australia. She works mostly in the medium of painting but also works in other media including screen-printing, photography and installation art. Her artworks focus on the issues of identity, cultural heritage, and the environment. She has exhibited her work in various galleries around Australia, as well as in Europe, the United States, and Japan. Her works are held in a number of important public and private collections in Australia and internationally. Watson has been awarded numerous awards and residencies including a 2003 Visual Arts/Craft Board Fellowship from the Australia Council and a 2004 Creative Fellowship from the Australia Council.
