Judith Bernstein's Biography

Judith Bernstein is an American artist and sculptor who was born in 1942. She is known for her bold, provocative works that often feature phallic imagery. She studied at the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York City. Her works are included in the permanent collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Modern Art, the Jewish Museum, and the National Gallery of Art. Bernstein has had solo exhibitions at numerous venues, including the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, the New York Studio School, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, and the Institute of Contemporary Art, Philadelphia. Her work has been featured in numerous group exhibitions, including the 2017 Whitney Biennial, the 2019 Venice Biennale, and the 2021 Documenta.
