Jim Shaw's Biography
Jim Shaw is an American artist best known for his works in the Lowbrow and Pop Surreal art movements. Born in 1952, Shaw has been active as an artist since the 1970s. He has exhibited his work in many galleries and institutions worldwide, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, and the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. In addition to being an accomplished painter, Shaw is also a sculptor and printmaker, and has created numerous public art commissions throughout the United States. His work is characterized by its vivid colors, surreal imagery, and a wry sense of humor.
