Jessica Stockholder's Biography

Jessica Stockholder is an American artist who works in sculpture and installation art. She was born in 1959 and is based in Chicago, Illinois. She has exhibited extensively in the United States and internationally. Her work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. She has been awarded numerous prestigious awards, including the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Award, the Guggenheim Fellowship, and the Rome Prize. Stockholder's work explores the physical and psychological aspects of space, color, and form. She often uses everyday objects, such as furniture, to create site-specific installations that blur the boundaries between painting and sculpture. Her work has been described as vibrant, playful, and thought-provoking.
