Jeff Koons's Biography

Jeff Koons is an American artist renowned for blurring the boundaries between fine and commercial art. He was born in 1955 in York, Pennsylvania, and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 1976. He began his career as a commodities broker on Wall Street in New York, where he became interested in the idea of making art out of everyday objects. In the 1980s, Koons began creating artworks out of mass-produced objects such as balloon animals, vacuum cleaners and basketballs. His works often feature bright colors and glossy finishes, creating an aesthetic that has been described as both playful and kitsch. He has collaborated with other artists, including Damien Hirst and Takashi Murakami, and his works have been exhibited in galleries and museums worldwide.
