Jean-Michel Othoniel is a French contemporary artist born in 1964 in Saint-Étienne, France. He is best known for his large-scale sculptural works crafted from glass, beads, and metal. He is a contemporary artist working in a wide range of mediums, including drawing, photography, sculpture, installation, and video. He has had numerous solo and group exhibitions at major museums and galleries, including the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris and the Serpentine Gallery in London. His works often incorporate organic forms, such as flowers and leaves, to explore the human connection to nature. He currently lives and works in Paris.
