Harun Farocki's Biography

Harun Farocki (1944–2014) was a German filmmaker, author and media artist. His career spanned more than four decades and his works include over 100 film and video works, many of which have been widely exhibited and critically acclaimed. He was also an influential essayist and theorist, and his writings have been published in a number of books. Farocki's works often focus on the realities of work, technology, and media, and often draw attention to the ways in which these forces shape our lives. He is best known for his film and video installation works, which often combine documentary footage with essays on contemporary issues. He was also a pioneer in the use of digital media in his works. Farocki's works have been exhibited in numerous international institutions, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and the Tate Modern in London.
