Hank Willis Thomas's Biography
Hank Willis Thomas is an American artist and cultural producer whose work examines the ways in which race, branding, and commodity culture intersect. His work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including at the Brooklyn Museum, the High Museum of Art, the Walker Art Center, and the International Center of Photography. Thomas’ work is also included in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, and the National Gallery of Art, among many others. He is a recipient of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation Fellowship Award, the prestigious “genius grant.”
