Giovanni Anselmo's Biography
Giovanni Anselmo (born 1934) is an Italian sculptor and a leading figure of the Arte Povera movement. Anselmo's work is often characterized by its use of natural materials, such as stone, iron, and marble, as well as its emphasis on the passage of time and the formation of space. Anselmo's sculptures are often referred to as "space sculptures" because they are created to be experienced in a particular environment and evoke a sense of dynamic interaction with the viewer. Anselmo has exhibited widely throughout Europe and North America and has had solo exhibitions at the Jeu de Paume in Paris and the Galleria Civica d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea in Turin.
