Gabriel Orozco's Biography

Gabriel Orozco is a Mexican artist born in 1962. He is a prominent figure of the contemporary art world, and is particularly known for his Postminimalist works on paper, drawing, installation, and time-based media. He has exhibited his work in numerous international galleries and museums, including the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York. His work has been the subject of numerous solo shows, most recently at the Musee d´Art Moderne et d´Art Contemporain Nice (MAMAC) in Nice, France and The Warehouse in Dallas, Texas. Orozco is also the recipient of numerous awards, including the Medal of Arts from the City of Mexico, the Chevalier de l´Ordre des Arts et des Lettres from the French Government, and the Premio Nacional de Artes Visuales from the Mexican Government.
