Franco Vaccari's Biography

Franco Vaccari (born 1936) is an Italian photographer and artist. He was born in Padua, Italy and is known for his Post-War photography and experimental films. He is most famous for his work in the Arte Povera movement, a 1960s Italian art movement characterized by the use of everyday materials. Vaccari's work often utilized the art of photography to explore the relationship between the real and the imaginary, as well as the relationship between art and life. His works are often characterized by an improvisational approach, using found objects and everyday materials to create his compositions. His works have been exhibited in numerous exhibitions around the world, including the Reversing the Eye: Arte Povera and Beyond 1960-75: Photography, Film, Video exhibition at the Jeu de Paume in Paris in 2022.
