Christian Boltanski's Biography
Christian Boltanski (1944-2021) was a French installation and sculptural artist, primarily known for his work that focused on the fragility of human existence and memory. He was born in Paris in 1944. He studied at the École des Métiers d'Art and the École des Arts Décoratifs. Boltanski's works have been presented in numerous exhibitions, including solo exhibitions at the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris (1974) and the Venice Biennale (1990). He also collaborated with musicians, such as Luciano Berio, in his work. Boltanski was a prolific artist, with his work being held in major art collections including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Pompidou Center in Paris. He passed away in Paris in 2021.
