Cao Fei's Biography

Cao Fei (born 1978) is a Chinese contemporary artist and filmmaker. She is best known for her installations, photographs and videos that explore the themes of urbanization, media, and digital culture. She has exhibited extensively in museums and biennials around the world, including Centre Pompidou-Metz in Metz, France, and the Mercedes Benz Art Collection in Stuttgart, Germany. Her works have been featured in numerous international exhibitions, including the Venice Biennale (2011), the Shanghai Biennale (2012), the Liverpool Biennial (2014), and the Seoul Biennale (2016). Cao Fei is also a founding member of the Chinese artistic collective "Big Tail Elephant" and the editor of their eponymous art magazine.
