Bjorn Melhus's Biography
Bjorn Melhus is a contemporary artist born in 1966 in Germany. He works primarily with time-based media, creating experimental video art, installations and multi-media works that explore themes of identity and memory, as well as the effects of media on modern society. His works have been presented in solo exhibitions at institutions such as the Motorenhalle Projektzentrum für zeitgenössische Kunst in Dresden, Germany and Haus am Lützowplatz in Berlin, Germany.
Melhus is also a professor at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne and at the University of Art and Design Offenbach. He has received numerous awards including the German Video-Art Award in 1998 and the art award from the German Ministry of Education and Research in 2009.
