Andrés Serrano's Biography
Andres Serrano is an American visual artist, best known for his photography. Born in 1950, Serrano has created works in a variety of media, including sculpture and prints, but his most famous works are photographs. His images explore a wide range of uncomfortable and often taboo topics, from racism and poverty to religion and sexuality. Serrano's work has been widely exhibited around the world, including shows at the New Museum in New York, the Museum of Modern Art in Paris, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. He has also been the subject of numerous publications, including a monograph entitled "Andres Serrano: Objects of Desire." Serrano is a recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship, the National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, and the International Center of Photography Infinity Award.
