Andreas Gursky's Biography
Andreas Gursky is a German photographer and visual artist. He was born in 1955 in Leipzig and grew up in Düsseldorf, Germany. He studied at the University of Essen and the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, where he graduated in 1987. Gursky has become one of the most influential photographers of the late 20th century, known for his large-scale color photographs of landscapes and cityscapes. He is associated with the Becher school of German photographers, who sought to capture the world around them in a detached, documentary manner. His work has been exhibited widely in museums and galleries around the world and he has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions.
