Alfredo Jaar's Biography
Alfredo Jaar is a Chilean artist and architect who works in a variety of media including film, installation, and architecture. He was born in 1956 in Santiago, Chile, and he studied architecture and art in Chile and the United States. His work is often focused on socio-political issues and human rights, and he has received numerous awards for his art and activism. His work has been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions around the world, and he has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the Golden Lion Award from the Venice Biennale. Jaar is also an active lecturer and writer. He currently lives and works in New York.
