Alex Da Corte's Biography
Alex Da Corte (born 1980) is an American artist whose work encompasses a wide range of media, from painting, sculpture, and installation, to film and performance. His work is characterized by its surrealist, often humorous approach to the everyday. Through his artwork, Da Corte explores themes of memory, identity, and the power of language. Da Corte was born in Philadelphia and studied at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. His work has been exhibited at numerous galleries and museums around the world, including the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Institute of Contemporary Art, Philadelphia, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. In 2017, Da Corte was the recipient of the Bucksbaum Award, which is given to an artist who has made a significant impact on the contemporary art world. Da Corte currently lives and works in Philadelphia.
