The YES Art Works program provides a professional studio setting and facilitation in textiles/fiber arts, ceramics, drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpting, mosaics, wood, and photography. The creative environment provides support, time, space and materials – which allows participant artists to discover their own styles, techniques and voices. The program is further enriched by trips to museums, galleries, and artists’ studios. Artists develop a working portfolio with the goal of producing exhibition quality artwork for sale in the YES Art Works gallery as well as other local and regional galleries.

Two tracks provide opportunities for all participants based on their interests and abilities.

Track I:
Participants who choose to participate in art offered in the studio (Track I) will be interested in the art experience.  These studios are an enriching environment where adults with disabilities can experience mediums and techniques as they relate to theme-based projects that change on a monthly basis throughout community services at Creative Work Systems.  The art produced in this studio will not be made with the intent to sell; therefore participants can take this work home at the end of the month.  All participants of CWS services are eligible to participate in the Art Enrichment Studio.

Track II:
Participants who participate in YES Art Works (Track II) will be creating art with the intent to exhibit and sell.  Experienced artists will expand their body of work while some participants will come to develop their artistic skills and create hand crafts such as pottery/ceramics, jewelry, and fiber arts.  Emphasis will be put on craftsmanship and aesthetics so that both fine art and hand-made crafts will be “sale-able.”  Art mentors will be on site to help guide participants in their aesthetic decisions, to help develop craftsmanship skills, and to provide support as needed.  Artists receive 50% of the proceeds from sales and the rest returns to Creative Work Systems to help maintain the program.
